Silvia, Devin

Devin Silvia is a PhD student at the University of Colorado in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences where he has been a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. His research is based in computational astrophysics with focuses on dust destruction in supernova ejecta and the effects of non-equilibrium ionization in the intergalactic medium. Devin was a participant in the ISEE and AWI Professional Development Program in the spring of 2012 and helped to design and facilitate an inquiry activity as part of the Research Experience for Undergraduate run by the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics. He is committed to improving STEM education and increasing diversity in the STEM disciplines. His current career goal is to become a faculty member at a small academic institution with a commitment to the sciences.
